This whole idea stemmed from our GSD puppy, Akiva. We attended a mentorship program which started the same time we got her and used hand feeding as the primary way to shape and reward behaviours.
Obviously Akiva being her sassy self was the fussiest eater. We worked with our trainers following their advice to use prey drive and frustration to build up her food drive. This meant sometimes we would open a chub only for her to snob it. She had a drawer in the fridge to herself for the chub we had defrosted and opened yet to be eaten. It was a nightmare.
We would decant them into food bags within material pouches but it would end up in the handles and then on your clothes. We tried the classic silicon but they were thin and would flop open or look ugly.
So one night I mocked up a terrible design on Sketchup, Rach designed a logo which we stuck in the middle and The Raw Pocket was born. A few edits later (a bone shaped opening looks like something very different when one side is covered up!) we had a final design to start contacting manufacturers with.
